Isang Harding Papel tells the story of what it was like during the time of Martial Law, where blind obedience was discipline, and discipline meant progress. But mostly, it is a story about hope—in a country grasped by an authoritarian rule—between a mother who was detained for standing up for her beliefs and her young daughter who longs to be with her, learning and understanding the world in the midst of distress.

Augie Rivera is an award-winning Filipino children’s book author, editor and television writer at Batibot. He is known for his popular works such as Ang Alamat ng AmpalayaXilef, and Isang Harding Papel. As a writer, he has challenged how to tell stories about taboo topics to readers at a young age. Some of his works that tackled serious topics include Xilef (dyslexia), Mantsa (verbal abuse), Ang Lihim ni Lea (sexual abuse), and Si Jhun-Jhun, Noong Bago Ideklara ang Batas Militar.
